About Ex Nihilo Cuir Celeste
Ex Nihilo is a Parisian haute perfumery house founded in 2013 by Benoît Verdier, Sylvie Loday and Olivier Royère. Its name is Latin for "out of nothing", or created from scratch, and its first boutique opened at 352 rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, close to Place Vendôme. The house says its perfumers work with complete creative freedom, without limits on materials or cost. Ex Nihilo is also known for the Osmologue, a technology in its boutiques that lets customers personalise selected fragrances.
Ex Nihilo describes Cuir Celeste as "beyond the horizon". It was inspired by a vintage B3 bomber jacket, reworked by a Parisian craftsman and worn every day by French photographer Mathieu César.
